Why would Jesus keep his miracles a secret?

Wouldn’t YOU want everyone to know? 🤔

…but instead when Jesus does a miracle, he tells people to keep it a secret…why’s that? ⬇️

Well there is a reason! It is often called the “Messianic Secret.”

In Jesus’ time, claiming to be the Messiah wasn’t just a religious statement… it was a political bombshell!

The Jewish people expected a Messiah who would overthrow Rome and set up an earthly kingdom.

Crowds were ready to rally behind anyone they thought could do that.

So if word spread too fast, the danger was:

🔥 People chasing Him only for miracles

👑 Crowds trying to crown Him as a political king

⚔️ Rome shutting Him down before His mission was complete

Jesus didn’t come for political power.

He didn’t come for popularity.

His mission was ALWAYS the cross. ✝️

By keeping things quiet, He ensured the right timing…to reveal that His kingdom wasn’t political, but eternal.

📖 Mark 1:44 before the cross Jesus says “See that you say nothing to anyone…”

📖 Matthew 28:19 AFTER the cross Jesus says “Go and make disciples of all nations...”

✨ The miracles showed who He is.

✨ The cross and resurrection showed why He came.
