Ever wonder who ACTUALLY wrote Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John?
Here’s a quick breakdown you can keep handy when you’re reading 👇
📖 Matthew: A former tax collector turned disciple. His Gospel gives us an “on the ground” perspective and shows Jesus as the long-awaited Messiah.
📖 Mark: A companion of Peter. Likely writing down Peter’s preaching, so his Gospel is fast-paced and eyewitness-driven.
📖 Luke: A physician, Gentile, and companion of Paul. He carefully investigated everything (Luke 1:1–4), so his Gospel reads like a research report, full of detail and compassion.
📖 John: One of Jesus’ closest friends, and the only disciple to live to old age. Written later, his Gospel emphasizes Jesus’ identity as the eternal Son of God.
✨ Four writers. Four perspectives. One Savior.
Different voices, one story: the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
